Join us at the Willunga Farmers Market from 9am and every half an hour for an informative 10-15 minute educational workshop about Extra Virgin Olive Oil. “Punters” can then taste the top 3 judged gold winning Olive Oils and cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award

Fleurieu farmers first planted olives as vineyard boundaries from about 1880, but modern producers are far more sophisticated. Indeed, olives are the Fleurieu’s largest agricultural product behind wine grapes and are available everywhere across the region.

The Fleurieu Peninsula is an olive grower’s paradise. Visitors here soon come to realise that olive oil has become a local passion and the focus of an evolving regional cuisine.
Olive Awards

The Fleurieu Peninsula Food Olive Awards is an annual event designed to assist in the development of regional distinction for varieties predominantly grown on the Fleurieu Peninsula and attract national entries.

‘Punters Pick’

After the official judging for the Fleurieu Olive awards during October of each year, the highest scoring oils will be offered for tasting for the “Punters’ Pick”.

This is a people’s choice award held at the Willunga Farmers Market. Visitors to the farmers markets will be asked to taste, fill in a simple form and rate the oils in order of preference.
